How the tier system works

The basics — and the answers to the questions we get most often.

How is my tier calculated?
We total your spend across the last 12 months (rolling, not calendar year) and place you in the highest tier you've earned. Tier reviews happen automatically — you don't need to claim or request upgrades.
Do I have to spend the threshold again every year to keep my tier?
Yes — your tier is based on a trailing 12-month window. If your spend drops below the threshold, you'll move down a tier at the start of the next month. You'll always get advance notice before any tier change.
How is the discount applied?
Automatically — when you're signed in, every product page shows your tier price, every cart total reflects your discount, and every order is invoiced at your tier rate. No coupon codes, ever.
Can I have both a Trade and a Wholesale account?
No — you'll be on one track at a time. If you're ESA-licensed, Wholesale will give you the better pricing in almost every scenario. If you later lose access to your wholesale account (e.g. licence lapse), we'll automatically place you on the matching Trade tier so you don't lose all your benefits.
Do tier discounts stack with sale items, promo codes, or volume pricing?
On clearance items: no — clearance prices are already at member levels and tier discounts don't stack. On regular SKUs: yes, your tier discount applies on top of standard pricing and is shown in your cart automatically. For volume quotes ($1,000+ single-product orders), your account rep will quote the best of (tier price × quantity) or (custom volume contract) — whichever wins for you.
What counts toward my 12-month total?
All paid, non-refunded orders — net of HST/GST. Refunded orders are subtracted from the total. Cancelled orders never count. Shipping and tax are excluded from the qualifying amount.
Can I see how close I am to the next tier?
Yes — log into your account and you'll see a live progress bar showing your trailing 12-month spend, your current tier, and the exact dollar amount remaining to reach the next tier.
I'm a Safer Electric customer — does that count?
Yes. If you've engaged Safer Electric Inc. for installation work, mention it in your application notes. Existing Safer Electric customers are often fast-tracked through Wholesale verification.
