Does Colour Temperature Affect Energy Use?

No. A 9W pot light uses 9 watts regardless of whether it's 3000K or 5000K. The colour temperature is determined by the phosphor coating on the LED chip, not by the power draw.

What About CRI?

Can I mix 3000K and 4000K in the same room? We don't recommend it. The difference is noticeable and looks inconsistent. If you want variety, use a dimmer to adjust brightness instead of mixing colour temperatures.

What colour temperature is best for reading? 4000K is ideal for reading — it's bright enough to reduce eye strain without the harshness of 5000K.

Will 5000K keep me awake? Higher colour temperatures (5000K+) suppress melatonin production more than warm tones. Avoid 5000K in bedrooms and use 2700K-3000K for spaces used before sleep.
